Kamal did his matriculation from CARE-I High School in Iqbal Town, District Sheikhupura in 2000. He then received a CARE scholarship, and was able to complete his M.Sc. (Chemistry) from Government College University. He has worked at Descon, Servis and most recently at Unilever as a Quality Assurance Officer. Kamal has recently launched his own firm by the name of Hygiene Professionals. They consult with clients who want to improve the standards of hygiene at their respective businesses. Kamal and his partner are directors at the firm, while he has hired a few employees. ‘It is a modest beginning’, he states, ‘but our field is very vast and has great potential.’

All five of Kamal’s brothers and sisters studied at CARE-I and completed their higher education. His elder brother works in Accounts; his sister did a double M.A., while another sister did her graduation; his brother studied on a CARE scholarship at Punjab University. His father used to run a small shop in their vicinity – now he stays at home. Kamal’s mother works as a government schoolteacher, in the girls’ school at nearby Kot Abdul Malik. The family’s investment in education seems to have paid off – they are now prosperous by the Grace of God, and appreciative of the opportunities that they received.
