A message from our Chairperson at Ramadan.

Dear Friend,

This year CARE Foundation marked its 32 years anniversary. During this journey, with your help, we have:

  • Established 888 schools across Pakistan
  • Have 300,000 students currently enrolled
  • Annually awarded over 1050 higher education scholarships

And yet, Pakistan faces an educational crisis.

A shocking 44% of young Pakistanis are out of school – 22.8 million children.  We know education can lift children out of poverty, and the cycle of child labour, disease, malnutrition and crime.

As a country, we face many struggles but those who suffer most are always the most vulnerable – children born into poverty and disadvantage.

Our three decades of work to educate the children of Pakistan has created immeasurable social development. Our aim is to get one million children into schools by 2025. We believe at this scale, we can affect real, lasting change.

Over the years, we have witnessed many success stories of our alumni who are excelling in their fields. One such alum is Nabeel Arshad who attended a CARE school and went on to work as Head of HSE Department at Sabroso, Pakistan. Nabeel said:

“In my village, Chatti Nali. PO Bhikhi, there was no school for the older children after primary school. Then the CARE Foundation came and changed that…I have two younger brothers and a sister, and they also studied in the CARE school. My younger brother is now becoming a lawyer – he did a master’s degree in political science, and my youngest brother studied mechanical engineering. My sister is still studying. Our parents are very proud of us!”

Nabeel (right) added: “If our village did not have a CARE school, my siblings and I would have ended up working in the fields, growing crops with my parents. Life would be very different from how it is now.”

You can read Nabeel’s full story here.

The holy month of Ramadan provides us an opportunity to be thankful for the countless blessings bestowed upon us by the Almighty and extend our support to the less fortunate.

Please donate your Zakat to CARE so we can build a better future, one child at a time.

May the blessing of Ramadan be yours.

Sincerely,

Ms. Seema Aziz
